TikTok and Audius collaborate to power new TikTok Sounds library

Solana and Ethereum blockchain-based music streaming platform Audius has recently inked a partnership with video-sharing app TikTok, to collaborate on its new “TikTok Sounds” library.

This alliance, the first of its kind for TikTok, is geared towards modernizing the platform’s existing music selection and upload process. Users of Audius will now have the ability to upload tracks and share them on TikTok in under a minute, as per Audius’ founders.

Audius, which just recently crossed the 5-million user mark, is the first streaming platform to allow users to share directly to TikTok. According to a company spokesperson, Audius founders Forrest Browning and Roneil Rumburg have close contacts at TikTok, which they have leveraged to form the current partnership.

Browning was reportedly quoted as stating that the company is proud to become one of the first launch partners for TikTok Sounds, as well as to provide Audius-based artists the opportunity to increase their exposure.

Founded in 2018, Audius has emerged as the largest decentralized application for consumer blockchain, by certain metrics. The app holds a roster of more than 100,000 musicians, including deadmau5 and Skrillex.

This partnership with TikTok comes along the heels of another recent collaboration inked by Audius with the Solana Creator Fund, to bring new artists on board.

According to Rumburg, the TikTok partnership, alongside the company’s efforts with Solana to attract new artists to the space, significantly boosts the funnel of prospective creators for broader discovery of crypto and [Web 3].

Member of Disclosure, an EDM duo that streams music via Audius, Guy Lawrence also commented on the partnership, hailing the new feature as a big step ahead.

Audius, like TikTok, does not pay royalties to artists that use its platform to stream music at present but provides a strong platform to discover and engage with listeners and fans. With over 1 billion users each month, TikTok has apparently revealed that nearly 75% of its users use TikTok videos to discover new artists.
