Telit concludes IoT testing of its Sub-6 GHz 5G card with NTT DOCOMO

Leading solution provider of Internet of Things (IoT), Telit, has reportedly disclosed the successful completion of NTT DOCOMO interoperability testing of its FN980 5G data card in the sub-6 GHz spectrum.

Sources have also revealed that the IoT-based firm had previously accomplished the NTT DOCOMO interoperability testing in favor of the operator's 4G LTE network.

The recently concluded 5G network testing would now provide customers in Japan a selection of approved modules to support uses in their devices and applications.

For the record, the Telit FN980 card is centered on the new 3GPP Rel. 15 standard and allows original equipment manufacturers or OEMs to take instant advantage of Gigabit LTE as well as to future-proof their 5G products with NTT DOCOMO in Japan. It also supports downlink speeds of nearly 2 Gbps through a combination of 5G and LTE.

Furthermore, the 4G and 5G speeds would make the FN980 card suitable for an extensive range of bandwidth-intensive IoT applications, such as high definition (HD) surveillance video, industrial routers or gateways, and digital signage.

It has also been observed that the FN980 series is configured with the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X55 5G Modem-RF system and backs sub-6GHz FDD/TDD as well as LTE Category 20 – 7x carrier aggregation.

On account of this, the card has received widespread approvals which are providing OEMs, system integrators, and end-users with additional independent verification solutions to help their FN980-based devices perform as per expectations on all major mobile operator networks across the world.

According to Osamu Sato, Country Director of Telit, the company would continue to offer OEMs, system integrators as well as end-users an extensive portfolio of solutions for leveraging the 4G and 5G networks of NTT DOCOMO. He also mentioned that the team would now make certain to gain full advantage of the operator’s networks in the sub-6 GHz and upcoming mmWave bands following the successful completion of the interoperability testing of Telit FN980.
