Nokia extends its network security commitment to cover the 5G world

  • Under the commitment extension, Nokia launched the DFSEC 2.0 security program to meet the security needs of 5G WANs.
  • The company also opened a new security testing & verification laboratory, FXSec, at Nokia Bell Labs headquarters in New Jersey.
Nokia Corporation (Nokia), a renowned Finland-based multinational information technology, telecommunication & consumer electronics firm, has reportedly announced a substantial extension to its long-standing network security commitment to cover 5G end-to-end networks. Reports cite, under the commitment extension, Nokia has launched the DFSEC 2.0; an enhanced security program that addresses the security needs of 5G WANs (Wide Area Networks). The DFSEC program ensures that security features are designed in every Nokia product from the beginning itself, and that they undergo rigorous testing before a commercial launch. According to a press release by Nokia, the DFSEC 2.0 program would be further building upon its security development leadership by concentrating on additional verification in end-to-end (E2E) identity management, SDN security & network slicing, virtualization as well as OAM, also including patch management. Moreover, in an effort to support collaborative R&D across DFSEC 2.0, Nokia is also opening a new Future X Security (FXSec) Laboratory, a new E2E security testing & verification lab at Nokia Bell Labs headquarters in New Jersey. The Corporate CTO & President, Nokia Bell Labs, Marcus Weldon stated that E2E 5G networks would fundamentally transform societies by facilitating ultra-highspeed wireless connectivity. However, the opportunity brings a considerable security risk with it, which must be addressed through an array of new technologies. Weldon further added that as the world's most trusted 5G era E2E solution provider, Nokia is assuming a leadership position in building & defining advanced security solutions to address mission-critical needs. According to reports, the FXSec laboratory would open to communication service providers as well as industries to provide testing & verification of industrial automation solutions across public WANs and private LANs.   Source Credit: https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2019/06/10/1866146/0/en/Nokia-extends-commitment-to-network-security-for-the-5G-world.html https://www.nokia.com/about-us/news/releases/2019/06/10/nokia-extends-commitment-to-network-security-for-the-5g-world/
