nCipher unveils HSM as a Service for firms with cloud-first strategies

With growing popularity of cloud-based services, companies are moving their operations to the cloud worldwide. However, some organizations are hesitant to make this move over security concerns. To alleviate these concerns several digital security companies are introducing innovative cloud security measures.
nCipher Security, a leading general purpose Hardware Security Module (HSM) provider and Entrusted Datacard organization, reportedly unveiled nShield as a Service, a cloud-based HSM service which allows companies to protect sensitive applications and data, helping them meet compliance mandates - efficiently and easily, utilizing on-demand cryptography.
Vice President of Strategy, nCipher Security, Peter Galvin, stated that organizations implementing cloud-first strategies also require a high cloud-first encryption. This encryption means flexible access control in the cloud as well as onsite and automated, remote management at scale.
Galvin added that nShield as a Service makes it easy to implement a secure and multi-cloud encryption strategy utilizing the similar nShield HSMs organizations rollout onsite today.
nShield as a Service works ideally with cloud-first strategies, adding HSM capacity to manage workload spikes or selective cloud migration. The customer experience is familiar and consistent - users interact with the nShield® HSMs the same way as they would interact with nShield appliances within their own data centers.
Customers using the unique nCipher secure execution environment to execute sensitive application code in a secure boundary that is FIPS-validated now get the same opportunity using on premises as well as cloud-based HSMs.
By using nShield as a Service, users can implement Host Your Own Key and Bring Your Own Key solutions with trusted third-party service. Customers can also maintain complete control on the key material as well as maintain data separation from encryption keys.
Companies can utilize nShield-as-a-Service to replace or supplement on premises HSMs. The nShield subscription model provides predictability in capacity and cost management while also ensuring a smaller data center footprint and lesser time consumed on routine monitoring and maintenance.
nShield-as-a-Service utilizes nShield HSMs to generate, access and protect encryption keys, protected completely from sensitive data in the network. All HSMs are managed through the nCipher Security World key management architecture.
