Microsoft & beIN Media extend partnership to expedite cloud adoption

Microsoft Corporation and beIN Media Group have reportedly extended their partnership to expedite the adoption of cloud capabilities.

Both companies signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to consolidate their expertise to develop creative solutions and products. This will deliver unique fan experience and engagement services for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and beyond.

The state-owned sports and entertainment network previously collaborated with the tech giant and other entities to pilot the usage of 5G abilities to expedite upgrades in cloud-native remote production for live sports.

The FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021 event was used to conduct trials and its learnings proved crucial to the development of new broadcasting abilities.

Furthermore, the MoU will see both companies explore new and pliable solutions to foster operational excellence by using the power of analytics and AI (artificial intelligence) and Microsoft's expansive global partner ecosystem.

Both companies will also collaborate to design a technology pathway that leverages the power of the cloud to contribute to the network’s plans to attain operational excellence, cost optimization, and inculcation of best practices across the IT sector.

The agreement was signed at beIN’s MENA (Middle East and North Africa) headquarters in Doha by the CEO of beIN MENA Mohammad Al-Subaie and Microsoft Qatar’s Country General Manager Lana Khalaf. The ceremony was witnessed by Israel Esteban, Chief Technology Officer, beIN Media Group, and Corporate VP and President of Microsoft MEA Samer Abu Ltaif.

Mohammad Al-Subaie noted that beIN pioneers in adopting advanced technologies thereby enabling deeper audience and fan engagements with customized, connected, and immersive experiences.

Al-Subaie also stated that the company will leverage Microsoft’s advanced Azure platform to expedite innovative approaches across its business and deliver enthralling ways to enjoy broadcast television.

This latest alliance between Microsoft and beIN comes before the unveiling of the Qatar-based Microsoft Cloud Datacenter Region.

This center will provide consolidated enterprise-level cloud services for businesses and developers to transform their operations and create new customer experiences.
