Itron signs a deal with Liberty Utilities to deploy its OpenWay® Riva

Apparently, Liberty Utilities will also leverage Itron's managed services to operate and maintain the IoT network.
The American technology company Itron, Inc. has reportedly announced that it has inked a contract with Liberty Utilities Co., a subsidiary of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (Algonquin), which manages around 40 utilities in 13 U.S. states.The subsidiary will deploy OpenWay®Riva, an Internet of Things (IoT) solution developed by Itron which includes an open, standards-based network for electricity, water and gas.
The solution will enable the company to enhance operations and improve the customer experience. Itron will also offer cloud hosting services and managed services to ensure efficient execution and operation of the network.
Reportedly, Liberty Utilities serves around 800,000 customers throughout the United States. The company will deploy the IoT enabled multi-purpose network of Itron to enhance aging infrastructure with distributed intelligence and advanced metering capabilities across its gas, water and electricity installed base. Itron's network and high-performance endpoints will help the utilities be sufficiently equipped to increase reliability, improve customer service and enhance grid performance. They will also be able to examine data in real time to proactively handle risk and respond to rapidly changing conditions of grid.
