Infinix set to launch two 5G smartphones based on MediaTek SoCs

Infinix, one of the brands of Transsion Holdings Ltd., is reportedly launching two 5G smartphones in the latter half of 2021. The company recently introduced the Smart 5 smartphone which might possibly feature a 6000mAh battery.

Anish Kapoor, CEO of Infinix, apparently declared that the company will partner with MediaTek for two brand new smartphones supporting 5G bands. He further added that the company plans to launch these smartphones post June.

The smartphones will be priced over Rs. 15,000 which leads to the understanding that the smartphone might be integrated with MediaTek’s Dimensity 800U chipset, as this chipset is currently dominating the segment.

The CEO has reportedly suggested that apart from these two 5G smartphones, the company is planning to expand their Hot and Note smartphone series by introducing around five smartphones in these categories.

In addition, Infinix is looking to further expand their smart TV lineup in India and has plans to launch new 55-inch and 40-inch televisions alongside the existing 32-inch and 43-inch smart TVs it already offers. These televisions would probably be integrated with MediaTek chipsets and they will be available for sale on Flipkart.

The company will apparently launch the Hot 10 Play smartphone on April 19 in India. The smartphone is poised to feature a MediaTek G25 processor along with a 6.82-inch HD + IPS display, 32GB storage and 2GB RAM.

The phone will be reportedly equipped with Android 10 operating system and will possibly have a 6000mAh battery supporting 10W charging. With regards to camera, the Hot 10 Play smartphone will be provided with a 13MP primary camera on the back of the phone.

Infinix has partnered with MediaTek for an extended period of time. Gaming-focused products like Infinix Zero 8, 8i and the recently launched budget smartphone Smart 5 reflect their partnership.
